Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination

Uttar Pradesh State Technical University (UPTU) conducts Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination  (UPSEE) to offer admissions to aspirants in professional courses which are available at the university along with institutes that are affiliated to the University.

UPSEE is a state level entrance exam wherein candidates can secure admission at government aided as well as private unaided institutes that are affiliated to UPTU along with some other state universities of Uttar Pradesh.

Candidates are offered admissions in programmes such as BTech (engineering), BTech (agricultural engineering), BArch, BPharma, hotel management as well as fashion & apparel design (1st year as well as lateral entry in 2nd year) through UPSEE exam. Candidates can even secure admissions in post graduate dual degree courses such as MBA, MCA, MAM along with lateral entry in MCA programmes through this state level entrance examination.

This state entrance exam is supervised and controlled by the Central Admission Board (CAB) which is constituted under the watchful eye of Government of Uttar Pradesh’s Technical Education Department. The Vice Chancellor of UPTU, Lucknow is the chairman of CAB

Eligibility Criteria

In order to secure admissions through this entrance exam, candidates need to fulfill multiple eligibility criteria of UPSEE, which are as listed below:

UPSEE Eligibility Criteria for BTech programmes

Candidates are eligible to apply for admissions into this course through UPSEE exam if they:

Have completed their 10+2 or intermediate exam from UP board or its equivalent from a recognised board or university with a minimum aggregate of 45% with physics and mathematics as subjects studied by them.

Candidates belonging to the SC/ST quota need to secure an aggregate of 40% in their 10+2.

Candidates should have secured this percentage without getting any grace marks from the state or central education board.

Important:

In order to meet the eligibility criteria for UPSEE 2016, candidates should have studied one of the following subjects – Biology, Chemistry or Biotechnology as an optional subject.

 

UPSEE Eligibility Criteria for BTech Biotechnology programme

Candidates are eligible to apply for this course if they:

Have completed their 10+2 or intermediate exam from UP board or an equivalent exam from a recognised board or university with a minimum aggregate of 45% with physics and mathematics/biology as subjects studied by them.

Have also studied biotechnology or chemistry as optionals subjects.

Candidates belonging to the SC/ST quota need to secure an aggregate of 40%.

Candidates should have secured this percentage without getting any grace marks from the state or central education board.

 

UPSEE Eligibility Criteria for BPharm

Candidates are eligible to apply for this course if they:

Have completed their 10+2 or intermediate exam from UP board or an equivalent exam from a recognised board or university with minimum aggregate of 45%. Also, the candidate should have studied physics and chemistry as mandatory subjects.

Candidates belonging to the SC/ST quota should have secured an aggregate of 40%.

Candidates should have secured this percentage without getting any grace marks given to him/her from the any state or central education board.

 

UPSEE Eligibility Criteria for BHMCT/BFAD 

Candidates from any discipline can apply for this programme if they:

Have completed their 10+2 or intermediate exam from UP board or its equivalent from a recognised board or university with a minimum aggregate of 45%.

Candidates belonging to the SC/ST quota should have secured an aggregate of 40% in the qualifying exam.

Candidates should have secured this percentage without getting any grace marks from the state or central education board.

 

UPSEE Eligibility Criteria for BArch

Candidates are eligible to apply for this course if they:

Have completed their 10+2 or intermediate exam from UP board or an equivalent exam from a recognised board or university with a minimum aggregate of 50% with physics and mathematics as subjects studied by them.

Also, a candidate is sure to meet the UPSEE  eligibility criteria if they possess a Diploma in Architecture wherein he/she has secured a minimum aggregate of 50% from any institute recognised by the state or central government. However, this (aggregate) percentage should have been scored by him/her without any grace marks awarded to him/her from any state or central education board.

UPSEE Application Process

Interested candidates can fill the application form for UPSEE either online or through the offline mode, whichever means suits them best.

 

Step 1: Filling Application Form

In order to successfully fill the UPSEE application form online, candidates need to fill the below mentioned fields with utmost care:

  • Personal Details

Candidates need to fill in details such as their full name, date of birth, father’s name, mother’s name, personal mobile number, email ID etc.

Candidates are advised to go through all the information that they have provided thoroughly before submitting the application form.

  • Examination Fee

Candidates need to pay the UPSEE exam fee either through credit/debit card or through a bank challan. The examination fee for UPSEE  is Rs 1000 for male candidates who belong to the general/OBC category whereas female candidates from the general/OBC category need to pay a fee of Rs 500. But, examination fee for female as well as male candidates from SC/ST category is Rs 500.

  • Scanned photograph, signature and thumb impression

As per the UPSEE information brochure, “Candidates need to attach their clear scanned image in the application form. The image should be coloured and in passport size (3.5cm X 4.5cm). The image should be in JPEG Format with a maximum size of 20 KB. The photograph must be front facing to the camera in a manner that the candidate’s full face can be seen. The background should be either white or off-white and uncluttered. Apart from this, the candidate must attach a clear scanned image of their signature (3.5cm X 1.5cm) in JPEG format with the signature image size being not more than10 KB. Similarly, the left thumb impression should also be in JPEG format and its dimensions should be 3.5cm X 1.5cm, this scanned image should not be more than 10 KB in size”.

Candidates will be given a registration number when they submit their application form. Candidates are advised to note down the registration number issued to them because this will be used for all future correspondences. Candidates also need to take a print-out of the confirmation page that appears before them.

 

UPSEE Offline Application Form

Candidates are also given the option to fill their application form for UPSEE offline. Candidates can purchase their application form absolutely free of cost from any designated help desk.

In the application form, candidates need to fill their personal details such as their date of birth, email ID and mobile number. The mobile number/e-mail ID of the candidate will be used by UPSEE  officials for future correspondence/ communication with the candidate along different stages of the exam process.

After paying the exam fee, candidates need to submit their photograph, thumb impression and signature to the help desk. On completion of this step, they will be given three copies of the confirmation page from the help desk.

The confirmation page will contain a registration number which candidates need to use for all future correspondences.

After this, candidates need to post the duly signed copy of the confirmation page along with copy of bank challan through speed post/registered post at the below mentioned address:

 

Step 2: Receiving/ downloading UPSEE Admit Card

Admit Card for UPSEE will be sent to candidate through post and will also be uploaded on the official website of the entrance exam.

Candidates can download the UPSEE admit card from the official exam website by submitting personal details such as the course, registration number, date of birth and  security pin.

Candidates will not be allowed to appear for the entrance exam without the original UPSEE admit card.

 

Step 3: UPSEE Counselling Procedure

The counselling process for this entrance exam is conducted in three phases which are – Verification of documents, choice filling and confirmation of seats. Also, special UPSEE counselling rounds will be conducted for students belonging to the reserved category.

  • Verification of documents at verification centers

UPSEE rank holders have to be present for verification at the counseling centre/verification centre allotted to them. Here, candidates have to carry relevant (original) documents and their photocopies (one set) as mentioned in UPSEE  Information Brochure.

On the counselling date, after completion of the verification process, candidates will be given an OTP (One Time Password) on their mobile phones. The OTP number is necessary for the next step of counselling for UPSEE.

  • Choice filling

In UPSEE choice filling, candidates need to mention their course as well as institute preference. Please note that the allotment of seats will be done based on the UPSEE ranks secured by aspirants. So, higher ranking candidates will be considered first for UPSEE choice filling process.

  • Confirmation of Seat

After locking choices, seats are allotted to candidates depending on where they lie on the merit list and the seat preference mentioned by them.

Candidates who are happy with the course/institute allotted to them need to confirm their acceptance by submitting the required confirmation fee within the specified period.

Admission on a particular seat for which a candidate does not submit the confirmation fee will automatically stand cancelled.

UPSEE Examination Pattern

UPSEE exam paper will have questions in multiple choice objective type format. The language of instruction in the question paper will be both Hindi as well as English.

The duration of UPSEE exam will be three hours for BTech programmes. But, the duration for BArch exam will be two and a half hours and for BHMCT/BFAD will be one and a half hours.

Applicants appearing for Bio-Tech engineering will need to give Paper-2 as well.

Marking: For every correct answer in UPSEE exam candidates will be awarded four marks. There is no negative marking in this entrance exam.

Different programmes will have different UPSEE  exam pattern/structure. Some of the details regarding the exam pattern are as follows:

BTech                                                                                          

The question paper would contain 50 objective type questions each from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Candidates will be evaluated out of 600 marks.

BTech Bio-Technology

The UPSEE question paper for this programme would contain 50 objective type questions each from Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics. Candidates will be evaluated out of 600 marks.

BTech Agriculture Engineering

The entrance exam question paper for this course would contain 150 objective type questions from the agriculture discipline. Candidates will be evaluated out of 600 marks.

BPharm

The question paper would contain 50 objective type questions each from Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics. Candidates will be evaluated out of 600 marks.

BArch

The exam paper for BArch aspirants will be divided into two sections, that is, part A and part B. Part A would consist of questions from Mathematics and Aesthetic Sensitivity whereas Part B would test the aspirant’s drawing aptitude. In this paper of UPSEE, candidates would be judged out of a total of 500 marks.

BHMCT/BFAD

The exam paper for BHMCT/BFAD would contain 75 objective type questions testing the candidate’s general awareness. The maximum marks that a candidate can score for this entrance exam is 300.

Lateral Entry in BTech

The UPSEE  exam paper would consist of 75 objective type questions testing the aptitude of diploma holders in engineering. In this paper, candidates would be judged out of a total of 300 marks.

Lateral Entry in BPharm

This exam paper of UPSEE would consist of 75 objective type questions testing the aptitude of diploma holders in pharmacy. In this exam, candidates would be judged out of a total of 300 marks.
