Course Details

The department of Civil Engineering was started with the establishment of the SDM institution in the year 1979 with 30 students of input, the input was enhanced to 60 and the present input is 90 with 20% of Diploma Quota for 2nd year for the B.E program. This B.E program is an autonomous under VTU. The CS&E department offers Masters in Computer Aided Design of Structures.M.Tech was started in the academic year 2004 with 18 students of input. The program is affiliated to VTU.

The Civildepartment has an amazing infrastructure facility to nourish both UG and PG programs. This department acquires1588 sq.mtrs area of the institute. The department has developed trustworthiness by being committed to thelearning, teaching, R&D activities.

The 22 faculty members are working in the department in which 6 of them are Ph.D. holders with minimum 22 years of experience in different areas of expertise. The faculty to student ratio is 1:15. The department offers Government,semi-government, consultancy& other private organizations in the range of broad areas of soils, water, surveying, structures, concrete, etc.
