Eligibility A candidate who has passed any Undergraduate degree examination with 50 % aggregate marks and 50% of marks in the cognate subject (Botany/Plant Science/Life Science) from any recognised University in India or abroad recognised by UGC / AIU are eligible to apply. Applicants who are in the final year of their studies should have secured 50% or above aggregate in all the Semesters / Years of Undergraduate Examinations conducted so far and 50% of marks in Botany/Plant Science/Life Science subject.     • Man is dependent on plants for fresh air, food, fibre, medicine, building materials and a safe environment. The student of botany will be able to help in sustainable options for the safeguard of the environment by exploring the intricacies of life forms at the cellular, molecular and nano level. The Master of Science in Botany covers the full range of plant science from regulation of gene expression through cell biology and developmental and hormonal plant biology to the production of enhanced crops for sustainable agriculture. Focus will be on the aspects of comparative genomics, epigenetic & chromatin structure, cell walls & the plant cell secretory pathway, stress responses and crop science including nematode-resistant crops. The curriculum consists of a dissertation in a chosen field of study that has been approved by the Department. Students must present at least one paper at a seminar on an approved topic, as well one article for publication in a recognised journal.
